Roujin Z Anime Production Cel Takashi Terada
One-of-a-kind production animation cel used for the making of the 1991 Japanese animated science fiction action comedy thriller Roujin Z, written by Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira), directed by Hiroyuki Kitakubo (Robot Carnival, Golden Boy, Blood: The Last Vampire) and art directed by Satoshi Kon (Perfect Blue). Is set in early 21st-century Japan. A group of scientists and hospital administrators, under the direction of the Ministry of Public Welfare, have developed the Z-001: a computerized hospital bed with robotic features. The Z-001 takes complete care of the patient, driven by its own built-in nuclear power r. Eactor-and in the event of an atomic meltdown, the bed (including the patient lying within) would become automatically sealed in concrete. It won the 1991 Mainichi Film Award for Animation. It was even reviewed by Roger Ebert as he examines the trend of Japaneese anime being played in theaters across the United States, with this one being one of the earliest. Listed in the book 500 Essential Anime, and named one of the best-animated comedies of all time by Anime Insider, and one of the top 50 anime films ever released in North America. This is a nice close-up of one of the main characters - Takashi Terada. Lot's of nice detail and a really clean cel. This is paired with a non-matching printed background for presentation purposes. I don't see any damage to this cel - it looks to be in great shape. Let me know if you have any questions!
