Walt Disney's Mary Poppins, 1964. A rare opportunity to own an actual piece of the classic live-action / animated hybrid film overseen personally by Walt Disney himself just a few years before his passing. At the time of its release, it was Disney's highest-grossing film ever, and received a total of 13 Academy Award nominations. This is an original hand-painted (probably gouache) uncut production animation cel sheet depicting a rooster and chicken on a stone wall watching Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews) and Bert (Dick Van Dyke) as they sing Jolly Holiday (composed by brothers Richard and Robert Sherman). This frame is from roughly the 43:38 mark in the film as the duo enter a barnyard and encounter a variety of farm animals.
The full cel sheet measures 16-inches wide by 12.5-inches high, with all three original peg holes intact along the bottom. The chickens themselves are about 3.25-inches wide. The code "A-105A" appears in the lower right corner. Some of the original paint has chipped away, with the chips now attached nearby on the sheet. One additional chip detached entirely but has been bagged and will be included.
A professional restorer may be able to remove these cleanly and possibly even reattach them in the proper places. The cel has been placed inside a polypropylene sleeve to protect it from further damage, and so it doesn't directly touch anything else, and then matted and framed. The 18 x 14 inch frame measures about 20 x 16 inches overall. The opening in the mat is about 12-inches wide and a little over 7-inches high.A custom color laser printed background allows the cel to be seen in context. All of this is easily reversible, so you can restore and/or display the piece however you like.
