This beautiful hand painted production cel is of "Dastardly and Muttley", in Wacky Races, and shows our animation favorites Dick Dastardly and his dog Muttley. The artwork itself is in fantastic condition with nice vibrant colours, shown with the background obtained with it.

Never displayed, and kept out of light. Size: 13" x 11" (approx)/ unframed. The original production information can be seen on the edge of the edge of the cel, and has the title "Mountain".

This maybe reference to the cartoon name. The vehicle is called "The Mean Machine".

The villain of the series drives The Mean Machine (00), a purple, rocket-powered car with an abundance of concealed weapons and the ability to fly. Dick Dastardly is an archetypal mustache-twirling villain; Mutley is his wheezily snickering dog. Dastardly's usual race strategy revolves around using the Mean Machine's great speed to get ahead of the other racers, and then setting a trap to stop them and maintain the lead, but most of his plans backfire, causing him to fall back into last place.

Dastardly is the only racer who not only never wins, but never even finishes in the top three in any race. Dastardly and Muttley also starred in "Their Flying Machines" - a cartoon produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions for CBS. Originally the series was broadcast as a Saturday morning cartoon, airing from September 13, 1969 to January 3, 1970. The show focused on the efforts of Dick Dastardly and his canine sidekick Muttley to catch Yankee Doodle Pigeon, a carrier pigeon who carries secret messages (hence the name of the show's theme song "Stop the Pigeon"). The cartoon was a combination of Red Baron-era Snoopy, Wacky Races (Dastardly and Muttley in car races), and the film Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines.
